Café Nero St. Paul’s (Limited Inclusivity Despite Central Location) New
Visit date:
Overview
Directly visible upon exiting St. Paul’s Underground Station, with competing chain cafés nearby. Outdoor and indoor seating options are available, including ground floor and basement levels. The only toilet is located in the basement, accessible only via stairs with no lift/elevator access. This excludes wheelchair users and others with mobility impairments.
Transport & Parking
I walked there, but I noticed it’s less than 10 meters to the left of the St. Paul’s tube station exit, so it’s very conveniently located.
Access
The entrance is step-free, but it has double glass doors that require manual pushing. Inside, there’s a staircase leading down to the basement dining area and toilet—unfortunately, there’s no lift, making toilet access difficult for people with limited mobility.
Toilets
While the café's entrance is step-free, accessibility fails at the basement level. The only toilet requires navigating stairs with no elevator alternative, making it completely inaccessible for wheelchair users or anyone with limited mobility. As for the toilet itself, it has average cleanliness, and no handrails are installed. The space is moderately sized, just enough room for one caregiver to assist, but cramped.
