Step free throughout and totally pitch black... Definitely an experience to remember!
Transport & Parking
Again we used Basel's Tram service. We got off nearby at the main station and it is just a few minutes walk by foot. Unsure if there is parking nearby.
Access
You enter through a wide glass door into the reception area. They ask you to leave everything that emits light in a locker - including phones etc. We were then left to look at the menu before our waitress Julia met us. She asked us to put our hands on the back of her shoulders and follow her through the curtains into the restaurant. On entering the restaurant it is PITCH DARK.. Not even a tiny bit of light. We were guided to our table where she took our order and left us to navigate cutlery, napkins and glasses...
Toilets
Unnervingly if you wish to use the loo then you just call out for your waitresses name and they come to your table and guide you out of the restaurant and to the loo. The accessible loo was spacious, clean... and fortunately well lit! (NB No photos to prove it as my phone was still safely locked away!)
Staff
Brilliant! Julia was our waitress for the evening and looked after us very well... She explained where everything was on the table and helped us open our wine (before leaving us to ponder how to pour red wine in the dark!). She also checked back a couple of times that we were ok.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
A great experience, even if I did end up putting an empty fork in my mouth a lot. Pouring the wine was definitely the most tricky part of the evening, followed swiftly by trying to share a cheeseboard! Also - this is not a gimmicky restaurant - there is very yummy food and it was interesting tasting food and not being able to see it.
