Overview
This independent café is a gem for any foodie or if you want to escape the busy city centre. It is located just off the Headrow, linked to the AgeUK building. The café is accessible to any one with a disability. Although I am not a wheelchair user, I witnessed the staff helping someone who was to make sure nothing was in their way. The venue has a great atmosphere with a natural light coming through the glass. The food is slightly pricey but is absolutely scrumptious, I would particularly recommend the afternoon tea which is very good value. To top it all off, you can relax eating your cake knowing that all profits go towards AgeUK to help the elderly in the community - a very worthy cause!
Transport & Parking
The café is next to Sainsbury's so it is very close to buses to Headingley, Chapel Allerton, Oakwood and many more. However, for disabled parking there are only 2 spots directly outside the café with a few more outside St John's shopping centre.
Access
The entrance is flat and slightly sloped with wide doorways. The only downside is the doors are not automated so assistance may be needed here. When the café gets busy it may be difficult to negotiate a wheelchair but the staff are on hand to help out wherever they can. I would not let that put you off!
Toilets
All the toilets are in the adjoined AgeUK offices downstairs. The disabled toilet is accessible with no problems.
Staff
The staff in the café were friendly and polite, even when they were busy with customers. They will help wherever they can.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I have taken friends and family to this restaurant because it serves good quality food and is a lovely environment. You can eat inside or outside and can take out as well. I love supporting independent cafes but particularly this one as the profits go to AgeUK Leeds. I will continue to support this café and I hope others will enjoy it as much as I do
