At the time of its design, it was the highest and longest modern suspension bridge ever conceived. The bridge has a free entry Visitor Centre, open 10am to 5pm throughout the year and leads free guided tours every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday. Group guided tours are available by arrangement.Accessibility
The bridge is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is on the level with footways on either side. There is no accessible handrail. Benches are available at each end of the bridge but the span is 214m in length. The footways are separated from the roadway by a barrier, used by vehicles up to 4 tons.
