Magnificent Art Gallery and Museum

Overview
Easy to access, free admission for the wheelchair user and one of the great collections of European painting. Also important collections of Egyptian and Greek and Roman antiquities.
Transport & Parking
Can't comment on the parking. The Museum is next to the Ring, which is well served by trams, and five minutes (level, good pavements) from Museumsquartier U bahn station, which is fully accessible.
Access
Don't go to the main entrance on Maria Theresienplatz. The accessible entrance is at the side of the building on Burgring. Go through the archway. The reception office is on the right. He will phone through and someone will come and escort you across the courtyard and take you up in a lift to the main hall and ticket office. After that you use lifts to access all floors. We encountered no steps on floor 1 and very few doors and the galleries are spacious.
Toilets
We only used the one on floor 1. It wasn't very clearly signed but once we found it, it was fine - grab rails, an alarm and reasonable space.
Staff
Very helpful and informative and spoke good English. When it's time to leave you just find a member of staff in the entrance hall and they escort you back down to the courtyard in a lift.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
If time is short, just head for the gallery on Floor 1 with paintings by Pieter Brueghel the Elder, including the wonderful "Hunters in the Snow". There is a palatial cafe on Floor 1 but sadly it was full so we can't comment on the food.
