Welcome to the September Review Roundup. In this post, we’re sharing some of the reviews we’ve received this month from our fantastic reviewers. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed this month. With your support, we can provide up-to-date and relevant access information for more disabled people and their families

Places to visit

We have a great selection of places to visit this month. SarahMarieMather went to visit The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art with her wife Karine in Gateshead and they gave it a five star review  for accessibility. “All floors had level access throughout via three  lifts with amazing views over the Tyne. Even the viewing platform on the top floor was fully accessible.”

In Edinburgh, Donaldo70 wrote his first review of the Royal Botanic Gardens giving it five stars. “There was excellent wheelchair access to the majority of the gardens…you can even book your own electric mobility scooter by phoning in advance.”

In the Scottish Borders town of Duns, Bevmanott wrote her first review when she and her husband visitedJim Clark motorsport museum and awarded five stars. “I was on my mobility scooter, and was impressed by the accessibility of the museum, shop and toilets. The museum might be small, but it packs a punch.” This sounds like a great day out for any motorsports fans.

In Chichester, Disabled Traveler recommends a day out at Goodwood racecourse for anyone who enjoys watching horse racing. Disabled Traveller recommends buying a ticket with the hospitality deal as the best way to enjoy the racing. “You are able to just sit at the table they select for you, have staff bring you drinks, and a fantastic four-course meal will be brought to you, all while you sit back and watch the race.”

In London, WheelyP enjoyed a visit to the Batman Unmasked exhibition celebrating 85 years of Batman with his family and was impressed with the accessibility of the exhibition. “The exhibition is interesting and extremely accessible so the event space is worth a visit in future.”

Places to eat

Our reviewers have been out sampling some tasty treats in some of the most accessible cafés and restaurants. Butterfly visited the Rivers and Roads coffee shop in Milnthorpe in Lancashire, giving it a five-star review. “A light and airy room with plenty of space. Very friendly, helpful staff and good service.”

In Glasgow, Café Buena Vida received a five-star rating from SeasickSal and the title speaks for itself: An awesome accessible venue. “A friendly welcoming place designed with accessibility in mind. Lower counters, a large accessible toilet and if you are so inclined, a fully adjustable DJ booth.” A great way to start your reviewing journey!

Places to stay

Julie_shaun12 wrote their first review about The Premiere Inn Basingstoke West which is a new venue on Euan’s Guide. “While highlighting a few accessibility issues this was overall a positive experience with lots of praise for the very helpful staff.”

WheelyP highly recommends The Ned Hotel in London giving it five stars. He has stayed there previously in an accessible room and was very impressed with the awareness of accessibility and the quality of the food.

“The NED is a luxury hotel with multiple restaurants situated in the heart of the City. Grade 1 listed and previously the Midland bank it is a stunning building delivering high quality in everything it does, including accessibility.”

Review of the month - September

The review of the month comes from one of our new reviewers who reviewed a new venue on Euan’s Guide SeaSickSal reviewed Café Buena Vida in Glasgow for the first time, where she had a really great day out. We really look forward to hearing about more of your reviews and experiences!
